New Single-Sound Examples, 11-20-2002:
Here’s a new batch of audio clips, further exploring Neuron’s resynthesis capabilities in a whole different way. All of these demos are single Neuron sounds, played live without any external effects or processing. Recorded directly from Neurons analog main outputs.

Neuron Audio Demo Clips, November 2002:
Track1: "DoomChoir" < DoomChoir.mp3 (897 kb) >
This is a model taken from a classical choir. It’s a single sound, played live. The choir changes its size over time (size of the body in this case, size of lungs, to be exact). Also, the sounds builds up slowly. The attack sounds totally inharmonic at first. Finally at the end of the track, the choir bursts into thousands of small particles...

Track2: "NylonMayhem" < NylonMayhem.mp3 (897 kb) >
Two Neuron sounds. First you hear a (originally analog) pad sound, also shifting in size. On top of it you hear the model of a concert guitar, which is modulated in several parameters: body size, texture of the resonant body (wood/metal), damping/accent of the pick sound. Finally the strings dissolve and change to loose rubber bands...

Track3: "Arabic" < Arabic.mp3 (1022 kb) >
This track features four Neuron sounds combined. Special focus is put on the oriental percussion loop. The drums sound small at first, then become larger, changing the skin tension and finally switch back and forth between open and damped skin. All of this happens within Neurons resynthesis engine. Of course this is all based on one single and static loop. Still, individual beats can be altered individually.

Track4: "NeuronGroove" < NeuronGroove.mp3 (1590 kb) >
A little pop tune. All sounds coming from a Neuron, except for the drum loop. The “blip” sound is changing shape gradually, metalizing, growing and shrinking. The pad sound has been cloned with a hammer dulcimer. The bass sounds was originally analog. Neuron adds more resonance and punch to it. The metallic lead sound also morphs over time.

Track5: "AsianDawn" < AsianDawn.mp3 (2224 kb) >
Neuron Sounds from another world! What you hear is made from three different sounds only: 1. A pad extracted from a shakuhachi model, combined with a totally different resonant body and gradually shifting through formants. 2. A harp model, morphing into a gamelan bell, shifting from string to brass metal. 3. Finally, halfway into the track, a pad sound apppears, which was morphed with ocean waves. At the end of the track, the pad vanishes into water...
